ANTONIO DE CESARE
When I was a child I didn’t had a good relation with food.
One day my mother discovered that the only way to make me eat without problems was to put some pencils in my little hands and to let me draw on sheets of paper during the meals.
Since then, my passion and love for drawing and painting has constantly growth up.
For over 30 years I have built up a brilliant professional career exploiting my creativity in advertising and marketing fields and, at the same time, painting and drawing for my clients.
In the last years I decided to become a full time artist, focusing my own artistic research on two different directions, which I called “Deep Painting” and “Minimalist Figurative”.
With my “Deep Painting” I’m investigating the universe of wild emotions, ancient fears, icons and myths hidden in the deepest side of our souls, painting directly connected with the subconscious, with our deeper and sometimes darker side.
With my “Minimalist Figurative” I’m working around our visual perceptive mechanisms of the reality.
I try to represent real things subtracting progressively their visual information up to the border between realism and pure abstraction, then I take a step back; every artwork is a conceptual tour de force, a challenge to pushing up the limits of the visual simplification.
Nowadays I live and work between Basel and Naples and yes, I still feel myself happier when I draw while I’m eating.
