friedART is a German artist based in Hamburg. Born in the 80’s in Leipzig, she was socialized with the last years of the GDR and the change of two different political systems: from socialism into capitalism. Probably one of the reasons why she wants to find out what lies behind.
The artist already developed her passion for creating in the early years, attended portfolio courses at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (Neo Rauch) during her youth and graduated in art education at the University Leipzig and in art therapy at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Ottersberg (Bremen) as well. Influenced by her work experience in the social context of art and also in the field of ad-based photo production (e-commerce) in Hamburg, the artist started her way with friedART in 2019.
In November and December 2020 friedART had her first exhibition within the group show “309 Days in (57 To Go)” and the following “Retrospective” at Azaro Art Spaces in Hamburg HafenCity.
In addition to her artistic work she volunteers for the Millerntor Gallery of Viva con Agua de St.Pauli with creative workshops for children in Hamburg, among other things.
Artist statement
Always driven by the search for truth and the question about it, friedART tries to find out what lies deep behind.
My work is a useful tool for me to deal with and to reveal the essence of things and interpersonal relationships in an analytical and philosophical way by using reduced design language and expressing in color and shape via various artistic media from black and white graphics, colorful paintings and different types of collages to objects and (sound) installations, all handmade. My artwork is continuously of abstract character.
The line appears permanently as a formal design element, which serves as an attempt to reduce and to structure the topics in a visual and contentual way.
Based on philosophical and spiritual questions, especially those of epistemology and natural science, I dare to generate own answers and solutions for my feelings and impressions. Sometimes randomly determined, sometimes conceptually motivated and often inspired by (the beauty of) nature and scandinavian music.
For some of my pieces I write poetic lines to emphasize the specific character of the artworks – and what is written between the lines.
